Porcelain Veneers Myths That You Should Never Believe

The evolution of cosmetic dentistry has come a long way. There are so many ways for the teeth to look good and almost perfect. Also, the advancements in technology have also pushed so many developments in the cosmetic dentistry field. Chicago porcelain veneers is one example of these developments. Porcelain veneers in the area raises a large number of statistics because of the expertise of Chicago cosmetic dental specialists. Veneers are now used to treat crooked, chipped, misaligned, discoloured and misshaped teeth. Despite of the number of patients, who have undergone, porcelain veneers, rumours and myths are still rampant which discourages some people who are planning to have porcelain veneers.

Here are some points to name a few myths:

Myth no. 1 – Thick layer will be removed before the veneers will be applied. Once you have decided to have porcelain veneers, the cosmetic dentist would only scrape a very thin portion of the teeth where the veneers like that of Wrigleyville porcelain veneers will be bonded. These are very thin like wafer that is similar to the thickness of a contact lens.

Myth no. 2 – Application of porcelain veneers is very painful. In the process of application of porcelain veneers, cosmetic dentists are applying anesthesia so patients shouldn’t worry about it. It can even be painless. When it comes to sensitivity, it may be felt when the temporary veneers are applied. However, when the real porcelain veneers are bonded, no more issues of sensitivity.

Myth no. 3 – Porcelain veneers doesn’t look natural. One of the reasons why more and more people approve veneer treatment is because it feels and looks like natural teeth. Porcelain veneers can’t really be identified from the person having it, which means that it really looks like natural teeth.

When you are interested to have porcelain veneers, don’t hesitate to consult your Chicago cosmetic dental specialists. The first step would basically start with consultation and determination of what the patient wants to achieve. The teeth are also checked and the dentist will make sure that Chicago porcelainveneers are suitable with the patient’s current teeth and health condition.

If the Chicago cosmetic dental specialist approves the porcelain veneers treatment, then you can proceed with the 2nd and 3rd visit or until the dentist says so. It is also essential for patients to understand that the application of porcelain veneers doesn’t mean that teeth are not susceptible to decay anymore. Proper hygiene and care for the teeth even with the presence of porcelain veneers is still important.
